The Australian Citizen Science Association (ACSA) is thrilled to announce our fifth biennial conference to be held in Melbourne, October 13-15, 2025. Our theme “A Catalyst for Change” celebrates the impact of citizen science in addressing many of our most pressing challenges across climate, environment, health, education, sciences and humanities. The conference aims to engage diverse audiences, from practitioners and policy makers to researchers and educators throughout Australia and beyond.

About the Event
With an expected attendance of 300 participants, CitSciOz25 will unite the Australian citizen science community to showcase achievements, share knowledge, and strengthen connections across the field.
The three-day program will cater to both those who are new to citizen science, as well as experienced practitioners and researchers looking to deepen their expertise and discover new opportunities for collaboration.
Themes for this year’s conference may include:
- Biodiversity monitoring initiatives and conservation programs
- Invasive species and biosecurity
- Citizen science and public health
- Emerging methodological, digital tools and best practices in citizen science
- Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
- Citizen science in schools and education
Oct 13 Conference Day 1
Our opening day kicks off with keynote presentations, as well as a a variety of short talks, long talks, posters, and end with the official welcome evening event. More details to come!
Oct 14 Conference Day 2
We continue with more keynote presentations, as well as series of informative themed sessions and panel discussions as we conclude
Day 2 with a Public Lecture.
Oct 15 Conference Day 1
