Empowering Communities Through Citizen Science in the ACT
The Australian Citizen Science Association – ACT Chapter (ACSA-ACT) is your local hub for connecting with nature, science, and community. We bring together passionate individuals, researchers, and organisations to explore, understand, the world around us—through the power of citizen science.
Our Mission
We aim to:
- Coordinate and promote citizen science opportunities across the ACT.
- Engage diverse communities in hands-on science.
- Recognise the value of citizen science in environmental volunteering and community wellbeing.
- Ensure equity and reward in all citizen science experiences—for participants and stakeholders alike.
Our Strategic Alignment with ACSA (2024–2026):
We proudly align with the national ACSA Strategic Plan by:
- Developing a calendar of citizen science opportunities and an evaluation survey to better understand participant motivations, barriers, and demographics.
- Identifying and engaging new partners to support and expand existing projects across the ACT.
- Training and supporting citizen scientists in the effective use of tools and platforms to enhance their contributions.
- Sharing project outcomes with participants, institutions, and decision-makers to amplify the impact of citizen science.
- Collaborating closely with ACSA National to strengthen the ACT’s voice and presence within the broader Australian citizen science movement.
