Biologist Nancy Hopkins, chemist Raychelle Burks, and geologist Jane Willenbring lead viewers on a journey deep into their own experiences in the sciences, ranging from brutal harassment to years of subtle slights. The Australian Citizen Science Association (ACSA) Early-Mid career researchers (EMCR) Working Group is excited to announce a new series of lunchtime seminars discussing exciting developments in Australian citizen science research. With a goal to unite citizen science aligned researchers and practitioners in Australia, these seminars are a space to advance scholarship, provide support, share resources and advocate for new opportunities. Are you a citizen science volunteer who identifies as LGBTQ+? If so, you are invited to participate in a virtual one-on-one interview. Todd A. Harwell (PhD Candidate, Environmental Sciences, Oregan State University) is conducting research to identify and understand the ways in which citizen science projects address the science identity development and community cultivation of their project volunteers with a focus on exploring the experiences of LGBTQ+ volunteers.  The title of his study is, “Queering Citizen Science:  Exploring the Science Identity Development and Community Cultivation of LGBTQ+ Volunteers.” If you are an LGBTQ+ citizen science volunteer and are interested in participating, please visit this link to complete a brief demographic survey.
